El Agave is a restaurant 22 years in the making. José “Lenny” Garcia took over his family’s Mexican restaurant, located in Wenatchee, WA and expanded into Ephrata, WA and Sandy, UT. Lenny grew up in the industry, working in his father’s restaurants since he was five. In addition to having studied with a chef in Guadalajara for six months in 2005, Lenny also relies on family recipes that are featured at El Agave.
Along with the additions of locations, the menu was remade by stripping away unhealthy ingredients — lard, monosodium glutamate (MSG), excessive cheese — and replacing them with olive and canola oils, sea salt and, in some entrees, platters of fresh steamed vegetables. The new emphasis is on offering tasty and healthy dishes using organic ingredients whenever possible.
To quote Lenny; “Our customers’ tastes have changed over the years, so we’re providing what they’ve asked for — good, fresh food in a fun and lively place.”
